Sunline Speedway at Waikerie is holding their final race meeting for the 2008/2009 Season this Sunday (7th June) starting at 12:00pm, and finishing under lights in the early evening. Classes running will be AMCA Nationals, Modified Sedans, Wingless Sprints (formerly NOS Sprints), Junior Sedans and Street Stocks contesting their Steve Butcher Memorial. Admission prices are $16 for Adults, while a Family Ticket will cost $35.

On Monday the 25th of May 2009 the extended Speedway family will gather for the funeral service of Trevor McIntosh. Trev was a hard working and most respected Speedway City official and in his earlier years a fierce Speedcar competitor of the Rowley Park era.

Wendy, Bob and the Speedway City team are saddened to learn the passing of Trevor McIntosh this morning. Trevor was a great Speedway person through and through as he was a former Speedcar competitor from the Rowley Park days and later became a hard working and most respected Speedway City official working alongside his son Scott waving the flags and controlling traffic on the infield while his wife Iris worked in the pit office and also as a lap scorer.

The Presentation evening for the Truckworks Speedway City NOS Sprints / Wingless Sprints Track Championship was held in conjunction with the Sprintcar Presentation evening last night at The Adelaide Convention Centre with former V8 Dirt Modified driver Cory Hodgson winning the inaugural Track Championship Series ahead of Michael “Spike” Spoljaric and Todd Wigzell.

Last night Luke Dillon (410ci) and Mark Caruso (360ci) were officially crowned as the 2008/09 Truckworks Speedway City Revolution Racegear Sprintcar Track Champions at a classy Presentation evening at Adelaide’s Convention Centre on North Terrace. The night, hosted by Track Announcer John Cobby and Promoter Wendy Turner, attracted over 250 guests, including drivers, car owners, sponsors and officials making it one of the most successful and professional presentation evenings held in South Australia for many years.

Truckworks Speedway City's PROPOSED 2009-2010 SEASON CALENDAR has just been released on our Website. Just go to "CALENDAR PAGE" and it can be viewed in full. The 2009-2010 "30th ANNIVERSARY" SEASON will feature a 'huge' 16 nights of racing, plus 4 Burn Out shows. The Season will kick off on Saturday 17th October with a Burn Out Competition, followed a fortnight later on Saturday 31st October with the OPENING NIGHT, which will again feature ROUND 1 of the SPEEDWAY CITY SPRINTCAR TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS for Opens and 360's. A week later on Saturday 7th November will see the annual AUSTRALIAN SPRINTCAR MASTERS, which will be the 24th running of this prestigious race, started way back in November 1985.

With the Speedway City Burn Out Championship being cancelled for tomorrow night, we would like to advise that WHYALLA SPEEDWAY, located on Iron Knob Road, Whyalla, are still running tomorrow night's (Saturday 25th April) Speedway Show. Sections running on the night include AMCA Nationals, Street Stocks and Junior Sedans. Gates Open at 4pm, with racing set to start at 6pm. Unfortunately, due to the large amount of rain that has fallen out at Virginia yesterday afternoon and today, we have CANCELLED the Speedway City Burn Out Championships scheduled for tomorrow night (Saturday 25th April). There is more rain forecast for tonight and tomorrow. Our next Burn Out show will be on SATURDAY 17th OCTOBER, starting at 6:30pm. Stay tuned to our Website for further updates to our 2009-2010 Season Calendar which will be released shortly.

Last Sunday night the Easter Bunny delivered a night of high class action at Truckworks Speedway City as the large crowd of close to 5000 spectators were treated to an evening that saw track records fall in three of the four racing categories including Matt Egel taking 14.2 seconds off the 25 lap open Sprintcar track record on his way to the winning the Martelco Equipment Hire Easter Sprintcar Cup.
