Sprintcars, Supers And Formulas At Speedway City
Phil Michell posted Thursday February 18, 2010.

This Saturday night (February 20) racing returns to Adelaide's Speedway City with a program which is sure to produce some top class action. Along with both the 410 and 360ci Sprintcars the Super Sedans are back for their final hit out before the 2010 Australian Championship as well as the Southern Shootout for Formula 500's and the V8 AMCA Nationals.

Round 4 of JD Couriers Super Sedan Track Championship has attracted the biggest field of the summer with 18 cars nominated with drivers representing three states. Leading the interstate charge is Western Australian Frank Does, who will be using this event as a warm up for the National’s in a fortnight time. Joining him will be Mildura based Tasmanian Mick Bagorski, who has already contested several rounds of the series already this season.

They will be joined by the strongest local line-up of the season so far with two times series champ Shane Best joining he likes of inaugural champion Dan Miller, Bill Miller, Dave Gartner, Chris Blunden, Trevor Ware, Steve Vaughan, Colin Neville, Gil Worthley and Graham Stewart.

The 410ci Sprintcars has attracted a 16 car entry with interstate drivers David Murcott, (Vic), Eddie Lumbar (NSW), Mick Goryan (NT) and Simon “Sopa” VanGinniken (Vic) hoping to mix it with our best local competitors. Current points leader Jamie Cobby heads former champion Mark Reuter by 54 points so both of these drivers will be out to gain as many points as they can but several other drivers such as Luke Dillon, Matt Egel, Brad Keller, Justin Sloan, Daniel Pestka, Glen Sutherland and Jason Loveday will all be out to claim a feature win at the final “Club Show” in the 2010 Revolution Racegear Track Championship.

The 360ci Sprintcars will see 15 cars in action including Australian Champion Ryan Jones, Adam Currie, Darryl Guerin, Mark Caruso, Michael Burford and the Hendry Boys. This season Speedway City has proven to be a home away from home for several Northern Territorian drivers as once again Alan Barlee and Nick Halikitis will be present.

The Formula 500 Southern Shootout will see 15 cars take to the track including last weekends feature winner Angelo Karoussis, Victorian Leigh VanGinniken and local hotshots Kim Gower, Simon Richards, Stewart Townley and Michael Wise. Finally the AMCA Nationals field will see well over 20 cars in action.
