Murcott And The Downing Bros. Win At Speedway City
Phil Michell posted Sunday February 21, 2010.

Last night Victorian David Murcott returned to the driver’s seat of the Downing Brothers #97 and he immediately felt at home as he stormed to a dominant victory in the latest round of the Revolution Racegear Sprintcar Track Championship at Adelaide’s Speedway City. With Murcott out of the Championship chase he was only there for the race victory and this attitude was evident early as he stormed to victory in his opening heat before charging from the back row to finish third in his second preliminary.

“I really feel at home in this car. I can’t thank the Downing guys enough for allowing me to drive this little orange car. We are not racing for points as we have only done a few shows so it is good just to come here and not worry about anything but winning the race. Tonight really makes up for crashing out before I even made the flag stand last weekend in Tasmania” added an elated winner following the race.

Second across the line in the 25 lap finale was current track champion Luke Dillon, who had a titanic battle with Matt Egel for the runner-up spot. After starting from position four Dillon ran a majority of the event in the third until he made an exciting late race pass on Egel in turn three.

Mount Gambier pilot Glen Sutherland lived up to his nickname of “Cyclone” as he blasted his way to a fourth placed result after running around the high side of the race track in spectacular fashion. In fact he and fifth placed Brad Keller had a great battle for the entire race with both drivers displaying the immense talent that they both posses.

18 Year old Daniel Pestka had another consistent night as he edged out front row starter Jason Loveday, who was having his first start of the season. Williamstown’s Justin Sloan, Mark Reuter and New South Welshman Eddie Lumbar completed the top ten.

Unfortunately the current points leader Jamie Cobby had a night to forget after rolling his #12 Eagle in his opening heat before pulling out the final just before the half way point.

Along with Murcott the heat victories were shared between Loveday and Cobby.
