Australian Super Sedan Title Time At Speedway City
Phil Michell posted Tuesday March 2, 2010.

This Wednesday Night the biggest Sedan race on the National calendar begins at Adelaide's Speedway City with the official practice session for the 2010 Hotline 40 Auto Parts Australian Super Sedan Title. This is the first time that the race has been staged at the metropolitan venue since 1992 when local Brad Scotcher was victorious. Following the Wednesday night Practice (which will be from 7pm to 9pm and have Free Entry!) the Calcutta will be held at Globe Derby Park on Thursday evening with the on track action stepping into top gear on Friday and Saturday night.

Headlining the 50 plus entry list this weekend is current Australian Champion Darren Kane (Qld) and former Champions Jamie McHugh (Qld) , Mick Nicola (Vic), Kevin Purton (Tas) and Chris Blunden (SA). In fact if you tally up the Australian Championships they have secured between them they have shared a staggering 9 titles. Of these drivers both Purton and Nicola have tasted the thrill of victory recently with Purton winning the National Super Sedan Series round in late January while Nicola is the defending Fireball Derby Champion.

Adding to this talented driver line up is current NSS Series Champion Matt Pascoe, former Champions Wayne Randall and Mick Doblo, “The Joker” Steve Jordan, Clayton Pyne, Jarrod Harper, Tony Barklimore and current South Australian Champion Brad Smith it is almost impossible to pick a winner of the 40-lap main event.

Then of course you also have to consider the local talent that will be present as they will have a massive home track advantage over a majority of their interstate rivals. Of the locals you can’t look past two time and defending JD Couriers Track Champion Shane Best and Penola’s Dave Gartner, both of whom have already taken out a main event win at Speedway City this season. But a real dark horse for the event could be former State Champion Steve Stewart, who dominated when the Super Sedans last raced at Speedway City a fortnight ago.

So if you are a fan of Super Sedans or just a Speedway fan in general make sure you are trackside at least one night this weekend. Friday night will see the opening rounds of heat races contested with Saturday night set to stage the final round of heats along with the C, B and 40-lap Hotline 40 Auto Parts Australian Title final.

The AMCA Nationals and the Speedway City Street Stock Cup will be supporting the Australian Super Sedan Title on both nights. Entry lists can be found on the Home Page of the Speedway City Website.
