Masters Stars Return For Round 3 This Saturday Night At Speedway City...
John Burton posted Wednesday November 17, 2010.
Round three of the Revolution Racegear Track Championships for Open and 360 Sprintcars will highlight another action packed programme this Saturday night, November 20th at Adelaide's Speedway City. Winner of the 2010 Australian Sprintcar Masters, Matt Egel will go into round three with a narrow 4 point lead over Jamie Cobby, with another 'young gun' in Daniel Pestka only a further 12 points behind. Steven Caruso is showing good form too in fourth spot, with Brad Keller and Luke Dillon tied in fifth spot. The good field of Open Sprintcars will contest their round over 3 heats, with each car racing in 2 heats each. The final for the 410's will be held over 25 gruelling laps of the 430 metre clayway, and if the track is as fast and driveable as it was for the Masters, maybe someone, even "Mumbo" Matt Egel himself, can break his record lap of 11.744 seconds. Shane Hendry and Shannon Barry start round three of the 360 Track Championship only 6 points apart, with Tregan Gates and Clinton Oliver all within strike and if last meetings racing is anything to go by, these guys will play for keeps. Thirteen 360's will be on track and as the section is divided into Div 1 and Div 2, each group will contest 2 heats, with Div 1 running a 20 lap feature and Div 2 contesting their feature over a 10 lap journey. Returning to Virginia for round 2 of the Universal Metal Cleaners Wingless Sprint Track Championship sees 16 quality cars, with Todd Wigzell in the lead, and only 4 points ahead of Keke Falland, and 6 points ahead of Joel Chadwick. These V6 powered sprinters are putting on some of the closest racing and unfortunately for some of them, some of the biggest spills seen in Speedway this year, but you can always be guarranteed close, wheel to wheel racing with these guys.
Round 1 saw Wigzell, wearing the famous #88 take the feature win, with 2nd, 3rd and 4th, side by side across the line, only a car lengths from him. Wingless Sprints will run over 3 heats with each driver having 2 heats each, then contesting the 20 lap final. Zoro Signs bring you round 2 of the AMCA Nationals Track Championship, with 18 of these V8's nominated and once again, every time these guys and girls hit the track, it's on! Foundation driver Brian Chadwick will be out to stamp his name on this round, with Michael Miller, winner of round ones feature race, out to do a repeat! Miller has returned 'full time' to AMCA racing after a guest drive last year, and he is happy to be back in the Lowe built car the saw him score 2nd in the Aussie Titles some 5 years ago. AMCA Nationals will contest round 2 over 3 heats with each car running 2 heats each and culminating in a 20 lap feature race. Gates open at 4:30pm and racing starts at 6pm.
