SPEEDWAY CITY OPENING NIGHT & FIREWORKS THIS SATURDAY!
Finish Line Media posted Tuesday October 21, 2014.
It's amazing how fast the off season has gone but it has just done that and it's all systems go this Saturday Night for the opening night of the new season at Speedway City. A full night of action is programmed for the whole family including the now 'traditional' Opening Night Fireworks Show.
The program will be headlined by the 2nd round of the State 360 Sprintcar Series which also doubles as the Mayor Of Gawler 360 Sprintcar Cup and with 14 nominations received that include our local contingent and we may see a new winner this week as many of the 360 contenders from seasons past have now moved up to the 410 category. The locals will be out in force this week with Australia #1 in 360's Chad Ely taking on Brendan Quinn, Tregan Gates, Sam Putland, Shane & Jamie Hendry, Daniel Evans, Michael Burford, Darryl Guerin, Shannon Barry, Jed Bell and lone Victorian visitor Wayne Logue. They will be joined by 360 rookie Jack McCarthy.
The Formula 500's return and a dozen cars have nominated that includes fast lady racers Lisa Walker and the much improved Steph Munn … they will take it up to the guys with Scott Dungey, Angelo Karoussis, Lachie Cates, Brad Tink, Josh Michelmore, Chris Brooks and Victorian visitor Tyler Beasy who recorded a podium here last season all ready for another season on the wide expanses of Speedway City.
The Wingless Sprints are out in force and with the Aussie Title here in Februry every meeting for track time will be all important. The usual suspects are back with Todd Wigzell, Jarman Dalitz, Joel Chadwick, Robert Heard, Brett Ireland just to name a few of the big field while Renee Pestka and Lucy Evans will continue their battle for supremacy. The Super Sedans will once again have their JD Couriers Track Series and Penola's Dave Gartner leads the small but high quality entry with Ryan Alexander in the Enzed #36 machine and Michael Miller in the West Torrens Dyno Cruise #47 keen to break Dave's strangle hold on Sedan events to this point. They will be joined by Paul Blenkiron, Kaleb Perrett, Graham Stewart, Trevor Ware, Cindy McCarthy & Luke Dodding. The ever entertaining Street Stocks return with a full field of 18 cars to kick the season off as well as a great field of AMCA Nationals on hand with several drivers making a comeback to the class this summer in the form of Steve Letts, Michael Ffrench just to name a couple.
It should be a greats night action on and off the track with Family Friendly prices to kick the season off. The Kids Passes that were handed out at the Royal Adelaide Show are valid for this week only.
Gates Open at 5:00pm.
Racing Commences at 6:00pm
