BOGUCKI MASTERS THEM ALL TO WIN $10,000!!
Finish Line Media posted Monday November 3, 2014.

Scott Bogucki has claimed Round 2 of the Queensland Speedway Spares SA Sprintcar Shootout on Saturday Night at Speedway City after one of the most dramatic final laps you'll ever see. The night also doubled up as the 29th running of the Oxford Insurance Brokers Australian Sprintcar Masters.

Some of Australia's best drivers were in town to contest the $10,000 to win event including National champion Dave Murcott, Steven Lines, Trevor Green, Robbie Farr and James McFadden just to name a few to shake it up for the series regulars.

The night began with the all important Qualifying session to determine the heats for the night. It was one of the pre-series favourites Luke Dillon who took quick time from Ryan Jones, Keller, Brendan Quinn, Brendan Guerin, Scott Bogucki, Steve Caruso, Keke Falland, WA's Taylor Milling with Dylan Jenkin rounding out the top 10. It was a great effort from our series contracted drivers to get inside the top 10 with the calibre of field on hand. Fancied rivals failed to fire a shot in qualifying after track went away Murcott (13th), Farr (15th) Egel (17th), McFadden (19th) & Green (20th). With those results the heat racing was going to be intense. Pitt Bros Racing again endured bad luck when Hayden Pitt inverted the #7 going into the back straight on his qualifying lap. This team deserves a change of luck as Hayden was a spectator for the remainder of the evening.

The six heats were full of action and while the first round of heats claimed a couple victims the track was providing several racing lines with a lot of drivers coming from deep in the pack to record top 3 finishes. The first heat saw Leith Ahlfors invert the #61 car spectacularly in turn two. Terry Pitt also failed to finish after he and McFadden got together forcing the youngster out and on closer inspection in the pits Terry was also a spectator for the night. The heat was taken out Dave Murcott. Heat Two was taken out by Jamie Cobby from Trevor Green and Matt Egel. Heat Three had the biggest crash of the night when Warnambool's Darren Mollenoyux took a tumble in turn 2 after riding the wheel of Taylor Milling. That heat was taken out by Robbie Farr from Michael Burford and Bogucki who had come from the final row this was a signal of the things to come from the #84 rocketship. Heat Four went to Chad Ely while the heat of the night was in Heat 5 when Matt Egel stormed home from 4th place to first in two laps. The track had come in nicely and there was plenty of passing to keep the fans on the edge of their seats. The 6th and final heat was taken out by McFadden from a fast finishing Mark Caruso.

The points were tallied up and it was Scott Bogucki who was the top pointscorer and while Luke Dillon won the Dash it was going to be a wicked A Main the top 6 in the Dash were rounded out by Bogucki, Keller, Murcott, Farr and Jones.

The B Main was taken out by Chad Ely after a great duel with Trevor Green on the last couple laps. The others to transfer into the A Main with them were a much improved Jordyn Brazier, Guerin, Cobby and Mark Caruso.

The Masters final was all set and with fireworks lighting up the sky the atmosphere was electric.

With a couple false starts after the front two were trying to psych one another out it was Bogucki who got the jump from Dillon, Murcott and Jones but the race only got as far as turn two when Farr looped the #Q7 and as the front wheels lifted had Matt Egel not come through he would've inverted the machine, unfortunately for Egel his top wing was heavily damaged but he was able to continue.

With Farr sent to the rear the restart was underway and once again Bogucki got the jump on Dillon with the hunting pack chasing them down with Jones, Murcott, Keller and Egel all next. There were two races in one between Bogucki and Dillon and Murcott and Jones it was a pleasure to watch as the racing line moved up track towards the fence. The next caution was for Jordyn Brazier who spun on the main straight after coming together with another car he was to go to the rear but retired shortly after.

At the half way mark it was Bogucki, from Dillon, Jones, Murcott, McFadden, Keller, Lines Egel, Falland, Dylan Jenkin and Egel who now had both top and front wing damage. Lines would pass Keller thereafter and was on the border of the top 5. Egel would retire the #29 Rapiti Earthworks car soon after and it was then when Lines would loop the W3 while in a top 5 spot and lost may positions but kept the car mobile and continued.

While Bogucki was out in front by a clear quarter of a lap he would've loved seeing the next three battle behind him as this was allowing him to stay clear in front. With Murcott now in second over Dillon he was on the move while McFadden would soon also pass Dillon the chase was on to catch the race leader.

Robbie Farr would bring out the yellows with a blown right rear tyre and Bogucki's advantage had disappeared but with the preying pack behind him he would need to be on his game with 10 to go it was anybody's race on a track that produced so much passing it was hard to know where to look.

Bogucki would get the jump but immediately behind him the battle was between Murcott and McFadden with Jones and Keller now past Dillon the #97 car wasn't handling the best, Keller was next from Cobby, Falland, Jenkin and Lines rounding out the top 10.

The battle came to a head with 9 to go when McFadden went for the pass on Murcott on turn 4 only for the two to make contact with Murcott suffering front end damage how McFadden kept the car mobile is anyones guess as he was literally in mid-air after the contact was made but was able to stay mobile. Murcott was not too pleased guiding from his body language in the car.

With 9 remaining now Bogucki was still in front driving the biggest race of his life with McFadden now second from Jones, Dillon, Keller and Falland who has taken to the 410 like a duck to water. The battle up front was on as McFadden was all over Bogucki and entering turn 1 on lap 29 they were side by side with the #NQ25 taking the lead on the back straight on the outside in a fantastic pass. He would take off from there however Bogucki would keep him in his sights and as white flag was displayed there was a significant problem with the RMGH #25 was he running out of fuel? The car had slowed considerably and on the back straight Bogucki had reeled him in catch and coming onto the main straight at the chequers they were side by side and Bogucki gave it one last squirt which proved to be the difference and with a gap of 0.001 he had won the closest ever finish in Speedway City history and $10,000 to boot while McFadden cars immediately went straight to the scales with no fuel left in the NQ 25.

The final placings were Bogucki, from McFadden, Ryan Jones, Lines after a great comeback after a mid-race spin, Dillon, Keller, Round 1 winner Dylan Jenkin who banked some solid points, Falland who will clearly be better for the run not having run many 35 lap finals before, Cobby, Green, then came QSS regulars, Steve Caruso, Brendan Quinn, Mark Caruso, Brendan Guerin, WA's Taylor Milling while the cars who did not finish were Murcott, Farr, Egel, and Jordyn Brazier while Chad Ely was out in the initial start from the Farr/Egel incident.

Support racing on the night came in the form of a twin feature for Wingless Sprints and it was Robert Heard who was victorious while Mat Crimmins scooped the pool in the Late Models and Neville Nitschke was the winner in the Street Stocks.

The next meeting at Speedway City is Round 5 of the Speedcar Pro Series proudly sponsored by ENZED SA, plus the Formula 500 Christmas Cup and AMCA Nationals with a Monster Fireworks Show and if Opening Night was anything to go by this will be HUGE and to round out the program a bash and crash Demoliton Derby with 19 cars so far it will be a great way to end a family night out at the Speedway!
