TWO OUT OF THREE AINT BAD FOR JENKIN RACING
Finish Line Media posted Wednesday December 3, 2014.

Bordertown's Dylan Jenkin has taken out the third Round of the QSS SA Sprintcar Shootout with a dominant display at Adelaide's Speedway City last Saturday Night. In what can only be described as a marathon there were many yellow roll around laps but this did not deter Jenkin who became the Series first dual feature winner thus re-taking the Series lead.

The Final was a tough affair and while the track was dry and slick the racing was on in earnest from the get go. Pole sitter Keke Falland (Racetec #78) wheelstanded off the line giving Jenkin the upper hand into turn 1 and clearing out. The race only got as far a turn three when Luke Bowey spun the Gawler Car World #55 this bringing out a caution this would be a sign of things to come.

At the restart after just one lap it was Jenkin from Mark Caruso, Falland, Steve Caruso, a very impressive Aidan Hall, Brendan Guerin, Luke Dillon, Brad Keller, Ricky Maiolo and Hayden Pitt rounding out the top ten.

The order would remain for many laps until lap 13 when Ricky Maiolo had a lose in turns 3 and 4 leaving Hayden Pitt riding his wheel cartwheeling out of contention and sadly the once pristined #7 OPR Shocks entry has seen better days.

Jenkin would be in front on the restart once again from Mark Caruso, Falland, Hall, Guerin, Keller and Dillon and another Sprintcar rookie Brock Hallett was also having a particularly good race on the slick surface.

The battle between Keller and Dillon was hotting up for the minors and this is where all the action was and while this was going on the cautions were on again when Terry Pitt (OPR Shocks #8) and Justin Sloan (Gawler Lock & Key #25) had a coming together.

Jenkin must have been wondering what he had to do to get this race in the books as the top half dozen remained the same until the Keller-Dillon battle came to head with five to go when the two came together coming out of turn two with both cars spinning infield while Dillon kept the car mobile Keller had come to a stop far enough infield. In the meantime Brendan Quinn (LD Kahl Cabinet Makers #14) had looped the car in turn 2 after contact with another on a night that team would rather forget.

With just five laps remaining Jenkin pulled away from the field and would take a the win his second in the Series putting himself back in front of the Championship. Rounding out the top ten was a runner up position to Mark Caruso who picked up a huge haul of points followed by a consistent Keke Falland, Luke Dillon, a very mature drive for a rookie Aidan Hall in 5th, Steve Caruso, Brock Hallett 7th in his first drive also needs to be commended, while the field was rounded out by Guerin, Mark Reuter, Terry Pitt, Michael Burford and Steve Webber was the only other finisher. DNFs included Justin Sloan (Front end), Adam Currie (Spin), Hayden Pitt (Crash), Ricky Maiolo (blown tyre), Luke Bowey and Brendan Quinn.

Heat races on the night were taken out by Steve Caruso, Aidan Hall, Mark Caruso & Keke Falland. The second heat in particular took the spotlight when the front two cars Reuter and Hall collided thus causing a chain reaction which took out the entire inside row which included Keller, Quinn, Currie and Hayden Pitt. After a lengthy open red light period all cars were able restart apart from Quinn.

The Series points is now starting to take shape with Jenkin leading on 436 pts from Luke Dillon on 414, Steven Caruso 410 who is equal third with Mark Caruso, followed by Keke Falland 406, Brendan Quinn 374, Brendan Guerin 366, Brad Keller 358, Aidan Hall 354 and Terry Pitt 352 rounding out the top ten.

Round 3 Award Winners were:
Hoosier Award (1st Contracted Driver to Draw Pole or Marble 1) - S10 Steven Caruso
Lucky 7s (1st Contracted Driver Who Finished 7th in A Main) - S8 Terry Pitt
Highest Heat Points (KAT Methanol Voucher) - S78 Keke Falland
Hard Luck Award (Taylor Made Wings) - S14 Brendan Quinn.
