Formula 500's Return To Speedway City For Their State Series - Round 3...
Speedway City - SM posted Thursday January 31, 2008.

The Allsteel Transportable Homes Formula 500 State Series returns to action this weekend after a break in the calendar of over two months. The series heads to the 'big smoke' this Saturday when Round 3 is conducted at Speedway City and it will be a true test of machinery on the wide open clay way.

Adding to the test of man and machine is the extended format that will see three heats of ten laps (where each driver gets two starts) and a twenty lap feature that will decide who wins the 'City Rumble' from the sixteen car field.

Luke Bowey in the Gawler Car World Kenser will go into the race favorite and series leader, with a handy seventy eight point lead over second place Jarrod Moore in the Tonsley Crash number 18 Racetec, while Kym Gower in the Coast Motorcycles LGM sits third, another eleven points behind.

Again up for grabs is the Lonsdale Tyres hard charger award, given to the driver who impresses in the final by charging to the front. The winner receiving a Hoosier Tyre for the troubles. Luke Bowey and Ashley Hicks being the winners in previous rounds.

Other prizes awarded for outstanding efforts in the feature will be a gift voucher to Revolution Racegear, made possible by Chris McCarthy of Revolution Racegear and twenty litres of ELF Racing Fuel thanks to ELF.

Meanwhile, the series champion will receive a drive in the Disbury Family Racing, Superloc USA 5 Sprintcar along with the cash prize for first, thanks to Allsteel Transportable Homes.

When the Formula 500 pocket rockets last visited Speedway City during the Knuckles Logistics Christmas Cup in early December, the racing proved to be a close hard and fast affair with this weekend shaping up to be another close tight race.

Racing thanks to Allsteel Transportable Homes, ELF Racing Fuels, Lonsdale Competition Tyres – Hoosier, Revolution Racegear and Coopers
